Student Testimonials

Here are some student evaluations from the first time I taught "Design Thinking in Technology":

Abdul is awesome. He does a great job of making sure everyone is on track to succeed, and gives constructive criticism for our projects.

I loved that you wanted to see us achieve in this class. It didn't feel to me like you just wanted us to just get in and out of class, but that you wanted to make sure that we could leave with something valuable to carry with us afterwards. You are very easy to talk to, always tried to be accommodating with us, and pushed us to go further than we could during our time in the course. Thank you :)

He's very open to feedback and responsive to all questions and queries, not once did I feel like I was hitting a brick wall due to perceived superiority or seniority. The man had the mannerisms of a TA and the professionalism and skill of a professor, the perfect combination for this sort of class. He's the right fit no doubt.

I think Moeed is very understanding and communicates what he expects clearly.

About

Over the past couple of years, a few themes have emerged in how I work.

Be Deeply Engaged

A hand drawn image of two rings intersecting.

My involvement is usually multifaceted and extended over a period of time.

I committed myself to the science bowl for over 4 years. In my engagement, I occupied multiple roles, often at the same time, for both the program and product. Because of my engagement, I was asked to take on more leadership roles.

Have Clarity in Intention

I'm driven by curiosity and a drive to better my work.

As a college instructor, I have developed a scholarly teaching practice which has been informed by hours of observations of other instructors, service redesign work, and instructional design work. (I look forward to share what I've learned soon!)

Make with Care

Design should be inclusive.

My UX work has focused around creating inclusion for underrepresented populations. I recently published a paper (CCS 2023) on usable privacy for teens in the global south, an understudied and overexposed population.
